Walking Alllll Over Paris

Alright, so today was fairly intense...We definitely walked for about 10 hours straight today (not exaggerating) with about 3 brief intervals to take the subway/eat. But we saw pretty much everything around here! We started at the Eiffel Tower (a-MAZE-ing!), then the Ecole Militaire (Military School), Hotele des Invalides, Assemblee Nationale, the Palais Bourbon, crossed the Seine and saw the Champs Elysees, the Colonne Vendome (which is basically a massive lighthouse in the middle of the city!), La Madelene, walked through the Tuileries beside the Louvre, saw the Opera Garnier and the Palais Royale, then on to the Hotel de Ville, Place de la Bastille (which is now a huge column in the middle of a traffic roundabout marking the famous prison that was destroyed in the French Revolution), Notre Dame again so Roman could see it, College de France, Palais du Luxembourg, and finished the day with Saint Sulpice (which is about as amazing as the Notre Dame cathedral, but less busy and quieter - GORGEOUS!).

Overall impressions of today though - I am absolutely blown away by the amazing architecture and artistry displayed EVERYWHERE! Every building on every street is simply magnificent! I am so saddened that our western world has lost the art of beautiful architecture and instead puts up these technological marvels of steel and glass everywhere. Seriously! Anyways, that's my rant for today :)

Nothing really funny happened today, sorry guys! We still haven't got lost yet, other than turning down a wrong street or two (which isn't really getting lost, because there is something amazing on every street anyways!), and we are becoming veritable masters of the subway system here! Pretty proud of that :)

Anyways, we are now thoroughly exhausted and planning to get to bed early, as tomorrow we have another long day ahead of us - Versaille in the morning, the Arc de Triomphe, the Louvre in the afternoon/early evening, and back to the Eiffel Tower at night to see it lit up and get up to the very top (when we got there today we discovered that only the bottom 2 levels were open as the top was closed for maintenance for the last week, but it's open again tomorrow!).

Then Saturday we go leave! Rhea and Roman will head down to Dijon and I'll be back to England to move into residence! A bed of my own! Yay! :)
