Run Baby Run (by Jason Upton)
I've been calling you to go to the city
I've been watching you every day
Now I'm paying for a one way ticket
for a ship that sails the opposite way
I've been watching you every day
Now I'm paying for a one way ticket
for a ship that sails the opposite way
And you laugh and you cry
and you live and you die
cause you don't really know who you are
All alone in this world
orphan boy orphan girl
cause you don't really know who you are
Run baby run
my hands release you
baby run baby run
just as fast as you can
Run till your legs lead your heart to the real truth
You're My daughter, My son
so run baby run baby run
my hands release you
baby run baby run
just as fast as you can
Run till your legs lead your heart to the real truth
You're My daughter, My son
so run baby run baby run
Hear Me laughing as you run from your calling
See Me crying see Me crying in the storms that rage
One way or another you will be going
To obey is such an easier way
See Me crying see Me crying in the storms that rage
One way or another you will be going
To obey is such an easier way
Go ahead, try and run away from Me
Run, run, run away from Me
You end up running right into Me
I'm your Father, my daughter, my son
Run, baby, run

So first of all I LOVE Jason Upton! Especially his Dying Star CD. So awesome! Anyways, this song hit me so hard, because it reminded me so much of Jonah and how God allows us to go our own way, but how He must chuckle sometimes at how we think we can find somewhere where He is not, that we can run someplace where He cannot find us. We really cannot outrun the ever-pursuing, all-encompassing love of God. He knows that when we are too tired to run anymore, we'll drop the ground and realize that He was there with us all along. And finally in that moment we realize that the only thing left is to surrender to Him. "One way or another you will be going; to obey is the easier way."
And not surrendering to Him because we cannot choose differently, or because He is intimidating, or because He puts ridiculous demands on us - but because He alone can see the big picture and knows exactly what is best for us. He created our hearts and knows how to satisfy them. I guess it all comes down to Trust, yet again.
Shocking, eh :P
